Dancing journalist falls on the corpses of Syrian revolutionaries

Syrian security forces managed to arrest Moein Dergham, a journalist who represents one of the media deception arms of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. He was running the “Radio and Television Center” in Homs, and was famous for wandering among the corpses of the dead in Homs. Al-Arabiya TV correspondent reported that Moein Dergham was arrested on charges of committing crimes with the former regime, and that he often appeared wearing a military uniform of the former regime's forces. Dargham's arrest comes as part of the new authorities' pursuit of perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity against Syrians, since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024. Daragham is accused of committing serious violations during his coverage of a number of battles in which he was the mouthpiece of the regime, and he defended it and its actions at the time on the various television channels on which he appeared. After the fall of the Assad regime last December, Daragham was among the media figures that activists on social media demanded be punished and held accountable for their actions.

The announcement of Daragham's arrest received a great deal of interaction on the media and social networking sites in Syria, where many expressed their joy at the arrest of one of the symbols of the Assad regime. In 2014, when he was a correspondent for the former regime’s state television, Daragham was seen wandering among the bodies of the dead in the then-besieged neighborhoods of Homs, and he said: “A large number of terrorists were eliminated inside one of the residential blocks... We are seeing the bodies of the mercenary terrorists.” The incident dates back to January 8, 2014, when Syrian opposition factions from the besieged neighborhoods of Homs began carrying out an infiltration operation towards the Al-Matahin area and Al-Qusour neighborhood in the city to bring food into the neighborhoods of Homs besieged by the forces of the former regime, and to open a supply route towards the northern Homs countryside, but the operation failed at the time.
