Mr. Sadiq Mohammed Al-Amari, Director General of the Qatari Press Center, received a delegation from the Syrian Media Club in Qatar, headed by Mr. Omar Zaqzouq, President of the Club.

The meeting discussed cooperation and exchange of journalistic and media experiences, and reviewed the role of media organizations in supporting journalists, advancing the profession, and keeping up with technological developments.

Mr. Al-Amari presented the vision and mission of the Qatari Press Center as an umbrella for journalists in Qatar and a forum for developing journalistic culture and enhancing the role of media in national development. He highlighted the center’s specialized training courses, seminars, and public lectures that address both journalistic and societal issues. He also pointed out the center's hosting of various events—political, social, and sports-related—that benefit all age groups, particularly youth. He noted that the center seeks to attract students and children through new initiatives in cooperation with relevant institutions.

The Director General also emphasized the center’s commitment to building regional and international partnerships with journalistic and media bodies, and press unions in the Gulf and Arab countries.
He said: “We have cooperative relations with many Arab press unions and associations, including those in the Gulf, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine. We are members of the Arab Journalists Union and the Gulf Press Union, and we aim to join the International Federation of Journalists soon. Our goal is to enhance global communication among journalists, exchange expertise, and expand joint work networks.”

He stressed that the Qatari Press Center is a home for all Gulf and Arab journalists, welcoming stronger cooperation with the Syrian Media Club, and supporting its efforts through hosting events, publishing books, and implementing constructive ideas that enrich the profession and elevate journalistic performance.

Cooperation and Partnership

For his part, Omar Zaqzouq, President of the Syrian Media Club, affirmed that the newly formed club—established as a social and cultural association for Syrian media professionals working in Qatar—is keen to cooperate and build a partnership with the Qatari Press Center, as well as engage with its events and training sessions.

He expressed the club’s interest in working with the center on training courses, especially for media college students, to transfer experience to new colleagues in the field.

After the meeting, the Director General of the Qatari Press Center gave the guests a tour of the center’s departments and halls.

The delegation included Shaker Al-Masri, Vice President of the Syrian Media Club, and members Alaa Al-Khader, Abdulkarim Oweir, Molham Brejawi, and Anas Trissi.
From the Qatari Press Center, colleagues Faleh Al-Otaibi and Yousef Al-Jarjawi also attended the meeting.

The Syrian Media Club in Qatar is a non-profit social and media organization that aims to foster communication among Syrian media professionals in Qatar, and to promote ethical values in media work.
Launched last April, the club also aims to provide a platform for exchanging media ideas and experiences, support young media talents, encourage creativity, and promote professional ethics.
