Qatar Press Center supports Qatar's bid to host the 2036 Olympics

The Qatar Press Center expresses its support for Qatar's bid to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games and affirms that it will direct all its capabilities, activities, and digital platforms to enrich the efforts of the Qatar Olympic Committee to host this global event.

 

The Center notes that Qatar's bid to host the Olympics reflects its belief in the power of sport to bring people and cultures together, empower individuals, and unleash human potential, especially among young people. and embodying its commitment to the concept of sport for peace as one of the principles enshrined in its National Vision 2030 and its keenness to contribute effectively to the development of global sport.

 

The center is proud of Qatar's sports infrastructure readiness to host the Olympics, in accordance with a plan based on an ambitious and pioneering vision that aims to build a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable legacy; to deliver a global experience that reinforces the concepts of inclusivity, sustainability and international cooperation; and to present a new model that reflects the diversity of our region and celebrates its authentic human values.

The center commends the significant interaction of local, Gulf, Arab, and international newspapers and media outlets with Qatar's bid to host the upcoming Olympics, highlighting Qatar's successes in investing in sports and culture as tools for building vibrant communities, establishing active participation, and achieving social cohesion and sustainable well-being.

 

The center affirms that hosting this global event represents a new milestone in Qatar's achievements, the advanced position it has reached in the international sports arena, its advanced organizational capabilities, and its advanced knowledge and practical experience, as well as its exceptional and unprecedented achievements in hosting many international championships, most notably the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2015 World Handball Championship, the 2019 World Athletics Championships, the 2024 World Aquatics Championships, and the 2025 World Table Tennis Championships, as well as hosting major multi-sport events, most notably the 2006 Asian Games. Doha is also preparing to host world championships such as the 2026 ISSF World Shooting Championships, the 2027 Basketball World Cup, and the 2030 Asian Games.
