Today, Monday, the Israeli occupation forces bombed a tent for journalists inside the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip. The Palestinian News Agency, WAFA, reported that the Israeli bombing led to the martyrdom of Haidar Ibrahim Al-Masdar, a writer and journalist in the field of "political media." The Qatar Press Center renews its condemnation of the Israeli occupation forces’ targeting of journalists in Gaza with killing and abuse, the latest of which was the assassination of journalist Haidar Ibrahim Al-Masdar. The Center condemns the Israeli army’s targeting of journalists’ families, homes, and locations inside Gaza, which is a flagrant violation of international law and a heinous crime to silence the free media and obstruct its ability to convey the truth to the world. The Center calls on the international community to condemn the targeting of journalists in Gaza by bombing their homes and the homes of their families, in addition to arrest and intimidation, and calls for pressure on Israel to release the detained journalists and media professionals, both male and female, who are languishing in Israeli prisons, in dire conditions that deprive them of the most basic rights of prisoners stipulated by international laws and conventions. Press reports confirmed that an Israeli drone targeted a tent next to the Palestine Today Channel tent inside the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital yard, indicating that Haidar Al-Masdar was among the dead, while a number of other journalists and citizens were injured. Palestine Today channel confirmed that the journalists' tent includes the channel's crew of correspondents, photographers and broadcast technicians who work in the central governorate, and who are based in the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital square after the occupation destroyed the Palestine Today office in Gaza City months before the start of the aggression. The Israeli army also targeted tents, along with another tent for journalists, around the hospital. The Government Media Office in Gaza said: "The number of martyred journalists has risen to 163 male and female journalists since the beginning of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, after the martyrdom of our colleague, journalist Haider Ibrahim Al-Masdar, the media researcher and specialist in media affairs." Palestinian and international media outlets have repeatedly warned of the Israeli army targeting media crews and called for providing them with protection, while Israel has ignored these calls. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, which investigates all reports of the killing, injury and disappearance of journalists and media workers, the data and statistics show that this war has become “the deadliest for journalists since the committee began its work in 1992.” It is noteworthy that the International Center for Journalists had announced, last February, that the war on Gaza witnessed "the highest levels of violence against journalists in 30 years," and called on the Israeli occupation authorities to "stop killing journalists and investigate incidents of their killing by its forces." The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said in a press statement: "The occupation continues its series of targeting journalists' homes by destroying them and killing their families, which has affected dozens of inhabited homes, resulting in the martyrdom of dozens of journalists' families in the Gaza Strip." The Syndicate confirmed that 1,500 journalists working in the Gaza Strip have become displaced, and most of them work in centers spread across hospitals and shelters.
